Exhibition Committee

As a final-year commercial product photography student, my end-of-year exhibition is a defining moment—a chance to showcase my work and step into the professional world. But beyond preparing my own work, I took on an even bigger challenge: joining the exhibition committee. As a member of the exhibition committee, I have put in a lot of time and patience to organise funding events, contacting potential printers and organising the catalogue. To ensure that it runs smoothly for everyone else in the year group.

When I joined the committee, I knew it would involve logistics, curation, and presentation, but I didn’t fully grasp the scale of the work until we got started. We were responsible for everything from the exhibition title, colour and design of the catalogue.

Being part of the exhibition committee has given me an entirely new perspective on what it takes to put together a successful photography showcase, and learning how to balance everything between my own work and the committee. I would say one of the highlights of the committee so far was the success of the multiple fundraising events, most notably the quiz at Revolution. This turned out to be a great success, bringing together people of all years to have a fun night out, have a drink, and raise a lot of money. The event was a success and raised the total. It took quite a bit of organisation, making sure the rounds were set, the questions were correct, and the bingo was made and worked. However, it all paid off and the use of the card machine made 90% of the sales.

It has been a difficult experience so far, ensuring that everyone in the year is on the same page and involved in the decision-making. The part that I found difficult in the committee was ensuring that everyone played equal parts, ensuring that no one did too much work.

Here is a selection of images from the exhibition committee:
