Future Intentions in My Photography Practice

Reflecting on my practice, I’ve realised how much commercial photography has evolved into something deeply personal for me. While it began as a means to complete an academic module, allowing me to explore a different medium of photography, it has now become my place to explore the intersection of visual storytelling, brand identity and emotional resonance. I have come to understand that I have always loved the challenge that commercial photography poses, but never understood why. Within this year, this love has helped me grow and become something that I want to continue exploring post-graduation. I only started understanding that commercial product photography is more than making a product look appealing during my placement year; it’s truly about elevating a product beyond its function, transforming it into an aspirational experience. And this year has further proved it.

There are so many more shoot ideas that I have, and so many more techniques to explore. I  hope that this excitement will inform my practice and future projects further down the years. Across all my commercial work produced this year, what ties them together is a commitment to intentionality. I no longer just shoot what’s in front of me. I have the ability to shape the atmosphere, direct the narrative, and think critically about how the imagery communicates;  Who is this for? What should they feel? How can I bring something unexpected to the table?

As I look ahead, post graduation, I feel excited by the possibilities for my work. I want to continue developing a practice that is both conceptually strong and commercially relevant. Particularly excited for how product photography can evolve through new technologies, materials, and formats, especially curious about how artificial intelligence might influence future image-making, and how I can remain both adaptable and authentic as the industry shifts. Also,  I hope to build a practice that blends commercial and personal work, where both worlds inform each other. I want to keep learning, stay curious, and collaborate with people who challenge and inspire me. I’m open to where this path might take me—whether that’s working with emerging brands, contributing to editorial campaigns, or exploring creative direction within a commercial studio.

Ultimately, I see my practice as one of continuous evolution. It’s about shaping visuals that communicate with clarity and beauty, but also spark imagination. Whether through bold visuals or quiet minimalism, I want to keep creating work that invites people to stop, look again, and connect.
